Zendo set for tea ceremony

Some of the traditional Japanese arts have their roots in the Zen tradition or share important attributes.

One of our teachers, Virgie Luchsinger, is  a Professor of Ikenoba Ikebana (flower arranging) as well as a Chanoyou (Tea) Master.  She shares these traditional Japanese Ways at the Zen Center of Orange County, emphasizing their relationship to Zen practice and mindfulness in daily life.  She is assisted by Tad Sullivan.

A quiet cup, a moment of mindfulness. At ZCOC, the formal Japanese tea ceremony (Chanoyu) is a contemplative practice of presence, precision, and reverence for the now.

Ikebana is the art of Japanese flower arrangement—rooted in simplicity, harmony, and awareness. At ZCOC, we offer this practice as a form of embodied Zen: focused, seasonal, and quietly profound.
